PLAYER INFORMATION

FORMAT:

All players will compete in an 18-hole stroke-play qualifying round.  Qualifiers will advance to the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Site of their choice on May 20 or June 3, 2019.  The 119th U.S. Open Championship which will be held at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, CA, June 13 - 16, 2019.  The final number of qualifying spots at each site will be available from the Committee on the day of play. 

 

REGISTRATION:

There will be no formal registration at this event.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the tournament. Starting times will range from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. 

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

   

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Players may make arrangements for practice rounds at their own expense. Practice rounds can be booked up to two weeks prior to the championship. Call Industry Hills Golf Club (626) 810-4653 up to seven days in advance of the date you wish to play.

Green Fees: Industry Hills’ member rates will apply to those who identify themselves as a participant in the U.S. Open qualifying.

 

TEES AND YARDAGES

Play will be from the BLACK tee markers (Blue yardages will be used on Holes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 14). Course Rating: 73.9 / Slope: 138 / 7,022 yards / Par 72. 

 

DRIVING RANGE:

The Driving Range will be open by 5:30 a.m. on the day of the qualifier.  Range balls will be provided compliments of the Industry Hills GC on the Driving Range. 

 

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The Cima restaurant and the snack bar, located outside the golf shop, will be open by 6:30 a.m.  Players, caddies and spectators are on their own for all food and beverage purchases throughout the day.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play;
  • The "one-ball" rule will be in effect. During the entire round, the golf ball a player plays must be of the same brand and type as detailed by a single entry on the current list of Conforming Golf Balls;
  • Distance measuring devices are NOT permitted;

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Golf carts are prohibited during the qualifier.  Pull carts or push carts are permitted.  Industry Hills does not have pull or push carts available for rental.  Players are permitted to obtain a ride from a rules official when having to go back to play another ball under stroke and distance.  Shuttles will also be provided to transport players and caddies at a few locations on the golf course.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times. 

 

CANCELLATIONS:

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an USGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here, AND the USGA Championship Administration Department at (908) 234-2300.
